Parent/carer drop-off
8.00 am - 9.30 am
A healthy communal breakfast at the tables.
8.00 am - 9.30 am
Children enjoy free play together, fully supported and supervised by our experienced Early Year's Professionals.
9.30 am - 10.30 am
Healthy morning snack.
10.30 am - 11.00 am
11.00 am - 12.00 am
Core learning activities: Children go to their own rooms and the outside spaces with the staff from 10am to lunchtime (between 11:30 and 12:00, depending on age groups).
Various innovative learning and play activities both inside and outside:
forest school activities, literacy, maths, PE, learning about emotions, singing and cooking
12.00 pm - 1.00 pm
Lunchtime with peers and staff in their rooms.
Nap time with peers
1.00 pm - 2.30 pm
Afternoon snack.
2.30 pm - 3.00 pm
Afternoon core hours. Learning activities resume inside and outside.
2.45 pm - 4.00 pm
A healthy tea time together in the rooms.
4.00 pm
Parent pick-up – free play alongside structured activities as per the needs and preferences of each child.
4.00 pm - 6.00 pm
Environment and Experience
As children’s senses develop in the early years, they can easily become overstimulated. At First Day Nursery we have created a natural environment that children are happy to explore. Amongst the calming spaces, our children have access to a wide range of stimulating learning opportunities and a variety of resources to investigate. Within each room there are quiet places to rest and reflect, communication-friendly spaces to talk with friends, areas designed to spark creativity and imagination, things to question and count, sensory trays to explore, and places to read or write.
At First Day Nursery, we have space to play, explore and learn.
The rooms in the nursery are as follows: Baby Room (3 months – 2 years), Toddler Room (2 – 3 years), Little Learners and Pre-School Room (both of which are for 3-5 years).
Both the Play space and Nature Garden areas are used as outdoor learning spaces with a wide range of learning experiences intended to nurture your child’s imagination. Children are given the opportunity for free-flow garden time throughout the day..
Part of our ethos is providing all children and staff with a clean and healthy environment. To maintain a clean environment all staff and children change from outdoor to indoor shoes on arrival. Visitors at the nursery are provided with shoe covers to minimise cross infection.
